Stack assembly

During stack assembly, the components MEA and bipolar plate must be precisely positioned and compressed in a defined manner. Stacking speeds of up to 10Hz are required, especially for mobile applications.

After assembly, the fuel cell stack must be conditioned and tested for leak tightness, electrical insulation and performance.

ZBT has many years of experience in the automated assembly of fuel cell stacks and is investigating optimized designs of MEA, bipolar plates and compression systems that enable high-speed stack assembly.

In addition, we develop processes for inline quality control of fuel cell components and stacks.

Please contact us if you have any questions regarding automated stack assembly!
