The Company ZBT

ZBT is a non-profit limited company (GmbH), Share holder ist University Duisburg-Essen. CEO is Dr Peter Beckhaus and scientific head is Professor Dr Harry Hoster.

• 2000 First concepts for the project ZBT
• 2001 business plan, foundation of ZBT GmbH, grant notification (15,4 Mio €)
• 2002 personal build-up, first scientific projects in the premises of university, acquisition of first industrial projects, planning of ZBT institute building, cut of first sod
• 2003 ZBT has 26 staff members, the new premise is furnished and inaugurated
• 2005 ZBT becomes non profit limited company (gGmbH), University Duisburg-Essen takes over all partner's interest share
• 2007 ZBT receives funding for it's extension
• 2008 The new technical centre is opened, ZBT employs more than 60 people (full time)
• 2013 After 10 years ZBT employs about 100 people
• 2018 15 years of ZBT
• 2020 New department strcutures are being established, focussing on hydrogen, fuel cells and batteries
• 2020 Dr Peter Beckhaus is new CEO, Professor Angelika Heinzel retires
• 2021 Professor Dr Harry Hoster becomes new scientific head of ZBT
