Safety standards in the hydrogen energy system: 14th workshop ‘Approval - Certification - Standardisation’

Safety first! In the field of hydrogen technologies, there is still a great need for norms and standards to ensure safety. A joint workshop organised by Fraunhofer ISE, DLR and ZBT in February 2025 will drive the topic forward.

Hydrogen, but safe! Standards and norms are still needed for many hydrogen technologies.

The safety of products and systems is the foundation for both manufacturers and buyers. The 14th Workshop on "Approval – Certification – Standardisation" in the field of fuel cells and hydrogen invites participants to engage in professional discussions on this key topic, as well as other subjects, on 18 and 19 February 2025 in Duisburg.

  • Comprehensive overview of the latest developments in safety standards and norms, as well as insights from ongoing approval and standardisation processes
  • Overview of various national activities, current political developments, and funding opportunities
  • Various interactive exchange formats to deepen the topic of hydrogen safety
  • Direct engagement with experts in the fields of approval, certification, and standardisation
  • Networking opportunities for future work in the area of safety standards

The workshop is primarily aimed at a professional audience, including end users, plant operators, and employees of research institutions focusing on fuel cell and electrolysis applications. It is also likely to be of interest to hydrogen system integrators, as well as members of certification bodies and standardisation committees who wish to exchange knowledge with experts and deepen their expertise.

This workshop is jointly organised by the ZBT - Centre for Fuel Cell Technology, the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE, and the research institution DLR Institute of Networked Energy Systems.
